Downeast TSCA Home Page

Welcome to the Downeast Chapter of the Traditional Small Craft Association. We are an enthusiastic group of sailors, canoeists, kayakers, and boat builders scattered along the rugged coast of Maine.

Throughout the year we may schedule field trips and presentations, but our main event is the Small Reach Regatta. The SRR is held in July each year. Boats (60 boats in 2016) typically sail or row courses of 5 to 15 nautical miles on three successive days (Thursday through Saturday) starting from a waterfront anchorage each morning and returning each afternoon. There is no racing, but participants always show keen interest in how their boats perform against others.

Initial Notification for the 2017 SRR is now available for download

There are no annual dues to join the Downeast Chapter. We ask that you be a current member of the National TSCA and designate yourself as a Downeast Chapter member. You can click here to join the National TSCA.

The Traditional Small Craft Association, Inc., is a nonprofit educational organization which works to preserve and continue the living traditions, skills, lore, and legends surrounding working and pleasure watercraft whose origins predate the marine gasoline engine. It encourages the design, construction, and use of these boats, and it embraces contemporary variants and adaptations of traditional designs.
