Welcome to the Downeast Chapter of the Traditional Small Craft Association. We are an enthusiastic group of sailors, canoeists, kayakers, and boat builders scattered along the rugged coast of Maine.
Throughout the year we may schedule field trips and presentations, but our main event is the Small Reach Regatta. The SRR is held in July each year. Boats (84 boats registered in 2019) typically sail or row courses of 5 to 15 nautical miles on three successive days (Thursday through Saturday) There is no racing, but participants always show keen interest in how their boats perform against others.
2020 SRR will held once again in Herrick Bay on July 23-25. 2020 SRR Event Notification will be posted in January.
The Downeast Chapter is a founding organizer of the Maine Small Craft Celebration held each year over the autumnal equinox at the Portland Yacht Services marina in Portland, Maine. In 2020 it will be on September 26-27.
There are no annual dues to join the Downeast Chapter. We ask that you be a current member of the National TSCA and designate yourself as a Downeast Chapter member. You can click here to join the National TSCA.
